Xbox President Sarah Bond appeared to confirm that the next generation of Microsoft’s platform is likely to be a mix of PC and console, following on from the new handheld.
The Xbox Series X is only five years old, but that hasn’t stopped gamers from looking at what might be coming next, especially after the launch of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X handheld. That handheld will set you back just under $1000, which is a noticeable leap from console prices.
However, that leap in price comes because of some elements being used that are typically reserved for PC builds, rather than consoles.
It was something that came up during Bond’s chats with Variety and Mashable. The Xbox President told Variety that the company already has “next-generation hardware in development” and that they are already looking at “prototyping and designing” for it.

On top of that, Bond was quizzed by Mashable about rumors that the next-gen console will be “more like a gaming PC” than a console by being “super high-powered.”
The Xbox President lifted the lid a touch, saying: “Well, I can tell you you’re right. The next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience.
“You’re starting to see some of the thinking that we have in the handheld, but I don’t want to give it all away.”
