Sam Rockwell’s new time travel movie hits screens this month, and if you lost your job due to the AI “revolution,” you can see Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die for free.

We were at the world premiere of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die at Fantastic Fest, and wrote in our review that the film delivers: “genuine emotion, some monstrous memes, and several satisfying twists and turns.”

AI is a major theme in the movie, with Sam Rockwell claiming to be from the future, and telling the patrons of a diner that he needs their help because our over-reliance on artificial intelligence has led to society’s collapse.

It’s weighty stuff, wrapped in a fun sci-fi adventure, and now the studio releasing the film is supporting that theme by offering free tickets to those affected by AI.

How to see Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die for free

Briarcliff Entertainment is offering free tickets to Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, because the company believes you should get “something” out of the AI “revolution.”

Through a letter posted on social media, Briarcliff writes: “If you or someone you know has been quietly replaced, sidelined, or optimized in the name of progress, tell us your story and receive a pair of tickets, on the house.”

The studio’s CEO Tom Ortenberg adds: “Who better to see a film about AI’s impact than those already experiencing it firsthand?”

What director Gore Verbinski says about the AI threat

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is director Gore Verbinski’s first film in the best part of a decade, and he got involved because of the threat that AI poses.

“I think it’s important that this movie comes out now,” Verbinski told us. “I think it’s important that this movie is seen with an audience.”

We then asked how he personally feels about AI: “I think it’s inescapable,” says Verbinski. “It’s coming. It’s inevitable. I’m both apprehensive and excited, [but] it’s terrifying at the same time, and I think the title of our film is sort of a mantra right now. You can either ignore it, or you can be afraid of it, or you can surf it.

“It’s definitely got its hand firmly on the baton. I think humans have been around for 3,000 years, and I think there’s a big change about to happen.

“This is a revolution, but it’s not windmills or the steam engine or personal computers. This thing is a digital organism that we’re birthing, and I think it’s inheriting some of our primal flaws in its source code.”
