YouTuber Tyler Oliveira says he’s canceling his upcoming video about India’s ‘poop-throwing festival’ after facing severe backlash, doxxing, and attacks targeting his family.

Earlier this fall, the 25-year-old YouTube star teased a documentary about attending India’s Gorehabba festival, where villagers in Karnataka celebrate the end of Diwali by hurling dried cow dung at each other.

Oliveira posted clips and photos from the trip, including an image of himself in a hazmat suit covered in brown smears, which went viral across social media.

“Happy Diwali. Yes, I went to India’s poop-throwing festival. It was the sh*ttiest experience of my life,” he wrote at the time, sparking immediate backlash. Some accused him of mocking Indian culture, while Oliveira insisted critics were “trying to censor reality” by demanding Google prevent the video from being released.

On November 6, the YouTuber announced he won’t be releasing the documentary, claiming the situation had escalated far beyond criticism.

Tyler Oliveira urges Indians to “leave his family alone” after poop festival harassment

“After much consideration, I will NOT be releasing my documentary capturing India’s poop-throwing festival,” he said. “I have been doxxed and threatened by thousands of Indians over the last two weeks… My family has been attacked in ways I never could have imagined.”

Oliveira called attending the event the “worst decision” of his life and joked that he “can’t defeat 1.5 billion Indians,” adding that he never intended to insult anyone.

“I just wanted to participate in this unusual poop-throwing festival and share it for the world to see. I ask that all Indians reading this please leave my family alone.”

Some fans believed the announcement was bait, and he still planned to drop the documentary. However, Oliveira told Dexerto he’s genuinely pulling the plug.

“Sadly not bait,” the creator said. “Just not worth it. I’ve inadvertently dragged my family through the mud. They don’t want to be involved in this anymore. Way worse than I ever could’ve imagined.”

So far, the YouTuber has lived up to his word and hasn’t released the documentary, but many are urging him not to give up and upload it despite the threats and harassment.
