A YouTuber by the name of Spanian had to be rescued after his trip to Mount Everest made him extremely sick.
The 38-year-old Aussie YouTuber uploaded a video in June 2025 revealing that he had flown to the Himalayas on a whim in an attempt to check out Mount Everest.
Due to how far above sea level the mountain is, climbers often require months of training to be able to even attempt the ascent. When they get there, it takes weeks to gradually conquer the mountain in an effort to allow their bodies to adapt, as altitude sickness can begin to occur at 2500 meters.
Spanian decided to charter a helicopter to go straight to the Everest View Hotel, 3000 meters above sea level, and almost immediately started getting sick.

Although the Aussie wasn’t directly on the mountain, flying to the hotel quickly made him feel sour.
“I feel light-headed,” he said immediately after exiting the helicopter at the hotel. Within the next hour, the YouTuber said he couldn’t get out of bed, was struggling to breathe, and felt cold.
“It’s getting way worse,” he added. “I can’t breathe properly, my head hurts, and I’m freezing. I tried to send a voice note to one of my staff and I got a little bit scared, I had a panic attack.”
After a failed attempt to walk a nearby trail, Spanian made his way back to Everest View Hotel and asked staff to measure his oxygen saturation level. It came back at an extremely low 83 percent, prompting an emergency helicopter call.
“I want to go down the mountain right now, I need to get out of here, I almost passed out,” he said. “I’m actually really upset now, I was going into some sort of collapse.”
