A YouTuber has revealed how he tricked Google into believing that GTA 6 would have a ‘twerk button’ as a feature. Seriously.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been an arduous one for GTA fans. Rockstar initially promised that it would release at the end of 2025, but delayed the game until May 26, 2026, citing the need for added polish.

In the wake of Rockstar’s silence, there have been a number of leaks and claims made about the game. Some of these rumors have had more substance than others, with certain ones just being so outlandish.

The most random of those rumors centred around a ‘twerk button’ as a supposed controller layout was posted online, showing that the crouch function would double up as a twerk. However, that was a hoax.

It was the brainchild of YouTuber Jeffrey Phillips, who revealed that he had “brute forced” his way into making Google believe that GTA 6 would have a wild new feature.

“I posted on my subreddit, GTA subreddits, TikTok, Twitter, I replied to some posts on Quora,” Phillips said. The YouTuber even posted the fake controller layout, which was picked up by media outlets and reported as a new feature. This all helped him takeover Google’s search results for GTA 6.

“I was definitely surprised to see that I even showed up on the AI overview. Especially since I didn’t even try to make anything with substantial or convincing evidence,” he told Polygon after posting his video.

Phillips noted that the outlandish rumor was just in the realms of possibility for some Grand Theft Auto fans to believe too. Though, he only expected it, and himself, to be sourced as a dodgy Reddit rumor.

“I have no idea how much time I spent posting but it wasn’t an insane amount. Some days I’d just post one or two things,” he added.

As for playing GTA 6, Phillips believes the game won’t live up to the hype. “But I think as time passes people will like the game. I’m sure it will be great,” he said. “Honestly I’m not even that big of [a] GTA fan.”
